Most farmers sought opportunity and started working in factories. (This was when the increase of laborers and the decrease of agricultural careers happened). Some of the machines that were made were for sewing. These were thought better for a woman to use and gave females a chance to provide for themselves and work as something other than a housewife/child caretaker.
