Read the passage.

People should have dogs because dogs are much more useful than cats. Owners can get lots of exercise by walking dogs. Dogs are good at defending homes and letting their owners know when someone is at the door. Dogs can also do more tasks than cats, which prefer doing things on their own. According to the American Kennel Club, dogs can be used for hunting, herding animals, and pulling sleds. Owning a dog will make people happier, because the dog will help them when they are upset.
