I would say that any hearing or speech problems and/or lack of education could pose a barrier. If this situation arises the hospital does provide translation, signing for hearing impaired and even someone to explain if patient does not understand! Also before a patient signs or agrees to anything or leaves they must fully understand everything that has happened or is going to happen. I would say there are several barriers out there!
