One day a iceberg breaks and some of the wolves are displaced to another located where may be there is not as much snow and is more greener than arctic. Overtime, these individuals will adapt to those environment and develop their own unique characteristics. It will be to the point where the wolves in new location won't be able to reproduce with wolves from artic. This would be one identifier of the fact that speciation occured and now the wolves in greener region will be counted as their own new species.
