Why: The reason why I put both ways is because sometimes in these kinds of questions they will put a word like "forever" but want you to say "Forget" and then put in any missing words. But looks like in this sentence they just want you to put the missing word which is take.
How I would would say it: "DON'T TAKE FOREVER TO TAKE OUT THE DAM TRASH!" Mom reminded us.
