A library has hired you to install a sculpture in one of its spaces. Describe the type of sculpture you would install in this space. Be sure to include a visual description, the medium and, techniques used in creating the work, and its subject matter. Identify at least two elements of art and two principles of design that you have considered in choosing this piece for this specific space.

In this space, I would install an abstract sculpture. It would be of twists going everywhere and coloured in the primary colours. There wouldn't be a lot of space in between the twists. Seeing as the twists go every which way, it would be asymmetrical. Since the twists would look as if they are going up, the person looking at the art would follow that path, and look up. The media used in creating my piece would be bronze and lacquer spray paint. The subject matter of my piece would represent to choose your own path, but stay close to others. I want it to communicate that you should choose your own path in life, and not let people tell you to do something different. But also stay close to others through emotional bonds, and have someone who you can always fall back on.

I'd put up an abstract sculpture in this spot. It would be made up of twists that went everywhere and would be colored in vivid colors. Between the twists, there wouldn't be much room. It would be uneven since the twists travel in all directions. Because the twists appear to be moving up, the person viewing the artwork would follow that direction and gaze up. Bronze and lacquer spray paint were employed in the creation of my painting. The piece's theme represents the importance of following your own path while being connected to others. I want it to convey that you should follow your own path in life rather than letting others tell you what to do.
