The  role of proteins in membrane structure and transport of molecules

across the membrane include the production of hydrophilic pores to aid

movement of molecules into the cell.

Proteins are organic substances found in cells which produce pores which

have a high affinity to water thereby allowing  other important molecules

enter into the cell.

It is a very important feature of the cell membrane as it ensures there are

enough nutrient needed by the cell to prevent starvation and death.
