Paul got a chocolate bunny. On the first day he eats half of the rabbit. Every further day he eats half of the piece left over from the previous day. After how many days does it have less than 10% of the original amount left for the first time? Calculate in the exercise book.

Respuesta :

Answer: 4 days.

Explanation: Keep dividing 100 in half until you get a number less then 10 (10 percent becuase anything out of 100 can be a percentage).

You woukd have to divide 4 times to get to a number less than 10, in that case it would be:

100/2 = 50

50/2 = 25

25/2 = 12.5

12.5/2 = 6.25

6.25 would be the percent of the bunny left on the 4th day, the 4th day also being the day where less than 10 percent of the bunny is gone.

Answer:

4 days.

Step-by-step explanation:

To start he has 1 rabbit - 10% = 0.1 of the rabbit.

If A is the amount he has left after n days then

A = (0.5)^n

So 0.1 >  (0.5)^n     Taking logs

n ln 0.5 > ln 0.1

n > ln 0.1 / ln 0.5

n > 3.32

So it's 4 days.
