Nila, a young girl of 14 is a student of class 9 of Noapara Girls’ High school, Noapara. She was a poor girl but had an aspiration to help her family for a better life. On her way to school, a boy named Alam used to tease her very often. But she didn’t get frustrated rather.

Rather she used to ignore him most of the times. She believed in the good of the world and thought maybe someday Alam would come to his senses and realize that what he was doing was wrong. She didn’t have the time to do anything anyway as she was more concerned about her future. The boy did not change his behavior still.

One day, when she had had enough, and decided to talk to Alam. She asked him why he used to tease her every day. The boy did not know how to answer. Nila told him that she had to study hard so that one day she can support her family and earn a name for herself in this world. The boy was still at a loss of words and he ran away.

The next day some other boys came to tease her and just as she reached there Alam scared away the other boys. He told Nila he understood her struggles as he faced problems at home too. The two of them started helping each other. Nila helped him with his studies and he protected her. Thus they both became friends.

We can choose how to respond in difficult situations.
