Islam, founded in 622 by Muhammad, began to expand territorially after the death of the prophet. Thus, it began to spread from the Arabian peninsula to different adjacent sectors, such as the rest of the Middle East, Persia and North Africa. Thus, by the 900s, these territories were already consolidated within Muslim rule.
Later, and after a series of territorial confrontations with Christians in Europe and indigenous African tribes, Islam again spread, this time in Central Africa, conquering the regions of black Africa south of the Sahara Desert.
