I think other Enlightenment thinkers might have responded to Kant's characterization of "the Negr*es of Africa, severely critiquing his comments against black people.

Immanuel Kant, considered one of the most brilliants philosophers of his time, issued some irrespective and derogatory comments against black people, calling them names. And Kant was not the only one of his time to issue racial comments. Another renowned philosopher, Scottish thinker David Hume, also expressed derogatory comments against black people.

Those comments were against the nature of the ideas of brilliant Enlightenment thinkers such as Baron de Montesquiou, Voltaire, Jean-Jaques Rosseau, or John Locke, who showed respect for human nature and people's rights.
