Angle #2 is supplemental to angle #3. Supplemental angles add up to 180 degrees, so when you look at angle #3, the only other adjacent angle to #3 that yields a sum of 180 degrees is angle #2.
You can always tell angles are supplemental when they create a straight line, which is 180 degrees.
