At the begging of the story Jerry acts in a selfish manner but by the end he shows a selfless act towards his brother. In the story, Armond asks for more then a nickel for a gift but Jerry “Aw.. Come one I haven’t a single Ken Maynard left, and I was going to buy some cards this afternoon.”. Later in the story he tells his friend Roger his sold he prized president Cleveland card for 5$ because it was an emergency According to the evidence Jerry was selfish at the begging of the story because he kept his money for himself instead of getting his dad a present. But at the end of the story, he sells another prized card in order to give money to his brother to go to prom. In conclusion, Jerry changes in the story because he went from selfish to selfless.
