A serial killer named Jacob Roberts works as a long-haul trucker. He travels from state to state dropping off deliveries and picking up victims. Hot on his trail is a young detective named George Spinetti who is eager to solve his first big case. Roberts becomes increasingly aware that Spinetti is onto him, and he begins to toy with him by leaving cryptic clues at the scenes of his crimes. Although he always seems to be one step ahead of his pursuer, Roberts grows increasingly paranoid as time goes on, and his behavior spirals out of control as thoughts of his impending capture overwhelm him.
