If you picture the basketball court being cut in half along the diagonal,
you can see that each half is a right triangle. 

The legs are 84-ft and 50-ft, and the diagonal is the hypotenuse.

       Length of the hypotenuse = √ (84² + 50²)

                                             = √ (7,056 + 2,500)

                                             = √ 9,556
