It is the fourth novel in the series, and it takes place in Kansas in the early 2000s. An FBI agent by the name of Pendergast comes to a small town to investigate multiple grisly murders happening right under his nose. With the help of townsfolk, he must find the killer and bring back the peace to the little town. But with government plans for the town, is someone trying to hide of cover something up?”
