Answer:

x=0 & y=-2

OR

x=all real numbers

Step-by-step explanation:

im not sure if the first equation is y=(1/2)x-2 or y=3x-2 so i will just solve for both situations:

1- if the first equation is y=3x-2:

so since we have the equation for the y value (y=3x-2) we can just plug the whole equation with the x values in for y in the other equation in order to solve for x

-3x+6y=-12    y=3x-2

-3x +6*(3x-2)=-12 (we distribute the 6)

-3x+18x-12=-12 (we combine like terms)

15x-12=-12 (we add 12 for both sides)

15x=0

x=0

we plug in 0 for x into one of the equations

y=3x-2

y=3*0-2

y=-2

2- if the first equation is y=(1/2)x-2:

we can do the same thing with plugging in the whole first equation for y into the second equation (i don't know if that sentence makes sense but i meant that I was doing the same thing I did for the previous situation)

-3x+6y=-12    y=(1/2)x-2

-3x +6*((1/2)x-2)=-12

-3x+3x-12=-12 (combine like terms- the -3x and the +3x make 0)

-12=-12 (this answer means that our solution contains all real numbers meaning that we can put any real number and it will satisfy the equations, so we don't have an exact value as the solution)
