I took chem last semester and honestly I didn't understand this either, but yt videos really helped me! I can't post links here but if you just search up "How to predict the products of chemical equations" and "how to balance", I really recommend the channel named "The organic chemistry tutor".

Here is how to determine type of reaction

Synthesis : A + B = AB

Decomposition : AB = A + B

Single replacement : AB + C = AC + B

Double replacement : AB + CD = AC + BD

^A,B,C, and D represent elements
