A citation is a reference to a published or unpublished source. For instance, if you're writing a paper and you include a quote, you'll include the place (book, magazine article, website) where you found your information. You'll include the citation in your bibliography, but you need to find out how your teacher wants the citation listed, there are different styles depending on the subject and type of paper.
