The social welfare department of town conducted a survey to know the number of illiterate males and females in the town. The results are given below.
Total number of males = 58,409
Total number of literate males = 47,354
Total number of females = 54,289
Total number of literate females = 42,876
Based on the above information answer the following questions.
a) Find the number of illiterate males and females and write their number name.

b) Find the total number of people in the town and round it to the nearest hundreds place.

A) 58,409 - 47,354 = 11,055
There are 11,055 illiterate males in the town.

54,289 - 42,876 = 11,413
There are 11,413 illiterate females in the town.

There are (11,413 - 11,055) 358 more illiterate females than males in the town.


B) There are exactly 112,698 people in the town. If rounded to nearest hundreds, there is approximately 112,700 people in the town.
