The world bank use the Gross National Income per capital.

One of the task performed by the World Bank is that they assigns the World's economies into four income groups which are low income countries, lower-middle income countries, upper-middle income countries, and high-income countries.

  • The World Bank uses the Atlas method to estimate the size of economies in terms of gross national income (GNI) per capital.

  • Usually, a countries with less than $1,035 GNI per capita will be classified as a low income countries but those countries with as high as $12,615 GNI per capita will be classified as a high income countries

In conclusion, the World bank use the Atlas method to determine the status of a nation and use GNI per capita to classify the nation accordingly.
