The atomic bomb was a nuclear weapon of war, and the first of these bombs were dropped on two Japanese during the second world war. The dropping of the atomic bomb was justified because of the fact that Japan had attacked Pearl Harbor, they had participated in many atrocities and a land invasion would have caused more of the allies to die.
The dropping of the atomic bomb on Hiroshima was justified at the time as being moral – in order to bring about a more rapid victory and prevent the deaths of more Americans. However, it was clearly not moral to use this weapon knowing that it would kill civilians and destroy the urban milieu.
