According to the poem, Miss Rosie was once the most beautiful woman in Georgia, however, she was destituted and no longer gorgeous. The figurative language used unfolds line by line how unnatractive she appears, ''When I watch you, you wet brown bag of a woman''. The meters used place emphasis on the appearance of the observed. ''When I watch you wrapped up like garbage sitting surrounded by the smell of too old potato peels'' this first stanza places attention on the subject's appearance and describes the poor condition of Miss Rosie.

This type of description continues and the reader wouldnt have known that Miss Rosie was once the most gorgeous until the very last stanza. Each stanza gives the audience a relatable understanding.
