The mountain range extending along the northern frontier of india was formed as the result of a collision of the indian subcontinent and what other continent?

Respuesta :

This mountain range was formed by the collision of India, which sits on the Indo-Australian plate and Eurasia, that sits on the Eurasian plate. This collision led to the formation of the Himalayan mountain range, which houses the tallest mountain on earth, Mount Everest. This type of collision creates extensive fold mountain ranges.

The correct answer is - Eurasian continent.

The Indian tectonic plate had been moving throughout the geologic past from the eastern coast of Africa, through what is now the Indian Ocean, and met its final destination in the southern part of the Eurasian tectonic plate. It collided with it, thus creating a convergent tectonic boundary, and push into the bigger Eurasian plate. Because of the big pressure between the two plates, the land around the collision boundary started to lift up, and as the time was passing it was becoming bigger and bigger, thus eventually creating the highest mountain range in the world, the Himalayas.
