The euphoria of victory often results in our being vulnerable to attack. When we are impressed with our own success, our eyes are not on Christ, but on ourselves. This is a tactical error. Pride creeps in. We lose the battle without a shot being fired. We forget that all good gifts—including our victory—come from God. We are not thankful, only boastful, whether the boastfulness be verbal or simply mental. By this time we have exhibited our Achilles heel; we have been attacked; we have succumbed.
