The differences between the East(the east coast particularly New York) and the Midwest(Minneapolis,Louisville and Chicago) are mentioned frequently, What does nick say about each (the great Gatsby)

Respuesta :

The East is all about adventures, new beginnings, even lies and secrets. The Midwest, on the other hand, represents truth, purity, and honesty. It's Nick's home and it's where he experiences true connections which sadly, he has to leave behind to find a better future.

When Nick discusses the Midwest, he highlights its honesty and simplicity. Nick claims that people in the Midwest are more communicative, less judgemental, more accepting and more careful with money. The East, on the other hand, is identified by lavish parties, materialism, over-indulgence and judgement. People are more concerned with money and appearances. Moreover, in the East, if you have money, you show it off, and you use it to control others.
