The formation at the uppermost part of this Colorado River Basin formation

are tectonic uplifts as a result of the exposure of the rocks present in the

area.

Location of the Grand Staircase  

It stretches as far as 100 miles and is located in two parks known as

  • Bryce Canyon National Park
  • Zion National Park

The layers from the Mesozoic and Cenozoic Eras are not present in the

layers seen at the Grand Canyon as a result of new rocks being formed on

top of the eroded ones over time.
