Flagellated sperms with capacities to swim in order to find eggs will not work with land plants because swimming requires water.

Fertilization in plants

Aquatic plants usually produce flagellated male gametes or sperms that are capable of swimming to find the female gametes or eggs. The female gametes are usually non-motile, unlike the male gametes.

The swimming is made possible by the water in aquatic environments.

In land plants, however, this is not possible because of a lack of water. most land plants have male gametes in the form of pollen. Pollens are either carried by the wind or insects to meet the female gamete for fertilization - a process known as pollination.
