Sandra is selling red and yellow roses. On the first day she sold 4 red roses and 1 yellow rose for a total of $7. On the second day she sold 3 red roses and 1 yellow rose for a total of $6. What was the price of the two types of roses?

PLEASE EXPLAIN!!!!:)

Respuesta :

R is red and Y is yellow

4R+Y=7

3R+Y=6

----------subtract

R=1

4R+Y=7

4(1)+Y=7

Y=7-4

Y=3

answer: Yellow is $3, Red is $1

Let, the price of red rose = x
Price of yellow rose = y

Now, Equations would be: 4x + y = 7
3x + y = 6

Subtract 2nd equation from 1st,
x = 1

Now, substitute it in 2nd equation,
3(1) + y = 6
y = 6 - 3 = 3

In short, Price of red rose = $1 & Price of a yellow rose = $3

Hope this helps!
