With regards to ecological terms, carrying capacity is the population that can be supported indefinitely by the system and its supports. In this example, the rabbits could have been food for other animals in higher level of the food web but the building of the shopping malls destroyed their habitat. Consequently, the carrying capacity of the environment will be lessened.
