Respuesta :

The letter was to defend the strategy of nonviolent resistance to racism. So I think it is Letter D.

The answer is D, the purpose of Martin Luther King in writing "Letter from Birmingham Jail was to "defend his methods against criticisms from the clergy".

Martin Luther King Wrote the letter to a group of white clergy that were questioning the activities that MLK Jr was doing in Birmingham, Alabama. They were curious about the reasons why he was there and to this, MLK Jr was cleared and in his letters said that he was there because social injustice was there. He also stated in the letter that he had the right to be there because Alabama is part of the country where he was a citizen.

He wanted to state his strong belief in non-violent opposition to racism and by writing the letter he is also defending that people have moral freedom to break unjust laws but not with violence, only in a peaceful way.
