Why was there a cold war? did russian aggression make conflict inevitable, or did the united states overreact to the battered soviet union’s quest for security?

Answer: As World War II transformed both the United States and the USSR, turning the nations into formidable world powers, competition between the two increased. Following the defeat of the Axis powers, an ideological and political rivalry between the United States and the USSR gave way to the start of the Cold War.   Hope this helps!!

A cold war happen because the U.S did not like communist and the USSR was turning countries on the other side of the world communist. The u.s fought battles over decades and decades to defeat communists.
