Marvin Wolfgang in 1958 coined the term victim precipitation, which simply means that victims sometimes start the conflict that ends in their own death.
It simply means that the crime is precipitated by a certain characteristic of a victim. In other words, a criminal can easily figure out who a victim is because of his or her race, ethnicity, gender or sexual orientation.
The Victim precipitation theory thus states that these victims confront situations that lead to their injury or death. The principle that goes behind is that these victims either provoke or facilitate a particular crime to which they are victimized later.
