Similarity scores, albeit seductively simple, are never sufficient to determine whether or not there has been plagiarism. In a perfect world, evaluators would always review the similarity reports. However, given the time that can be saved by relying on the scores and the continued usage of imprecise similarity score limits at some academic journals and educational institutions.
