In the state of nature, this equal ability to kill each other leads to mistrust. All of our belongings, and our life itself, might be taken at any moment, because there is no greater power to stop anyone from attacking us . Some people would attack us because they need our resources to survive.

Social-contract theorists' visions of the state of nature differed sharply, though most associated it with the absence of state sovereignty.
Therefore ,the idea of a state of nature is an effort to try and understand what humans would be like without any government or society and considers why we let ourselves be governed.
