people in the 1700's and the 1800's often wrote journals and letters ( the letter george washinston wrote was just one example) why do you think that is true
They wrote letters and journals because this was one of the only ways to share their stories and experiences. The only way their stories would one day be read by others was to write them on paper to preserve history
