Hi!

The answer to your question is A. Nellie Bly's purpose in writing 10 Days in a Mad-house is to inform the reader about the conditions of the place.

Nellie Bly was a daring journalist who actually pretended to be mentally insane to get into an asylum (The Women’s Lunatic Asylum on Blackwells Island). This was strictly done so that she could reveal the conditions of the place and how they treated patients. According to her previous researches, Bly had found that asylums were in horrible conditions and treated their patients real badly, going as far as feeding rotten food to their patienrs. Because of this, she wanted to experience what it was like being on the inside with the goal of exposing the injustices going on inside and get help for the mentally ill.

Hope it helped!
