The board of directors in companies consist of several people with Specific field of expertise. Each directors are placed to oversee each divisions of the company. Together, they control/manage the whole operation.

Our government had a very similar system, but we do not call them 'directors'. We call them Ministers. Each ministers had the responsibility to aid the president in managing a certain sector.
