Gender-stratification theory recognizes that men and women are pushed into certain roles because of their sex, roles that may ultimately: harm them in late adulthood.

For example, not all men are drawn to the roles that the society expected them to be (strong, aggressive, a leader). Some men are drawn to a lot of feminine things such as poetry, fashion, or gentle communication.
This could potentially caused an identity crisis for them, when they're confused because of the conflict whether to follow their true desire or what the society tell them to.
