A barrel had 20 liters of water. Water leaked out from the barrel at a constant rate. After 24 hours, 14 liters of water was left in the tank. How many liters of water leaked out per hour? a.0.25 b.0.50 c.1.42 d.3.14

Respuesta :

xLyn
let speed of water leaking out = x/h
water left in the tank after 24h=20-(speedxtime)
=20-(24x)
=14
20-24x=14
24x=6
x=1/4

Therefore, answer is (a).

Step [tex]1[/tex]

Find the amount of water that leaked out from the barrel

Subtract [tex]14[/tex] liters from the total of water of the barrel

so

[tex]20-14=6\ liters[/tex]

Find the rate of liters of water leaked out per hour

Divide the amount of water that leaked out from the barrel by [tex]24[/tex] hours

[tex]\frac{6}{24} \frac{liters}{hours}= 0.25\frac{liters}{hour}[/tex]

therefore

the answer is

[tex]0.25\frac{liters}{hour}[/tex]
