Carl Jung's term for the part of our personality that Freud referred to as the unconscious was the personal unconscious. He believe that an individual possesses both  the personal unconscious and the collective unconscious. The personal unconscious would refer to the repressed impulses and memories while the collective unconscious are the images and ideas that is   being shared by all people or is being passed genetically within the unconscious mind. He believes the same as Freud that the unconscious thoughts would have a large effect to human behavior and actions and that a person's defense mechanism would disguise  an underlying motives.
