You are given 4x-2y=12 and -4x-9=54. You are asked to find the order of the ladder. However, you did not specify which variable represents the ladder. I will just solve for both of the variables. I will be applying the substitution method.

Let 4x-2y=12 equals equation one and equation 2 for -4x-9=54.

 

4x-2y=12

4x=12+2y

x=3+1/2y

 

substitute this x to the equation 2

-4x-9y=54

-4(3+1/2y )-9y=54

Y=-6

X=3+1/2y = 3+1/2(-6) = 3+(-3) = 0
