A piston above a liquid in a closed container had a area of 1m 2squared. The piston carried a load of 350 kg. What will be the external pressure on the upper surface of the liquid?

In physical science, pressure quantifies the amount of force that is applied at a certain area. Mathematically, this can be transformed as,
                    Pressure = Force / Area

It is also to be noted that force is the product of mass and acceleration due to gravity. 
                 Force = mass x acceleration due to gravity
Substituting,
                Force = (350 kg) x (9.8 m/s²)
                Force = 3430 N

Then, substitute this to the first equation,
                 Pressure = 3430 N / 1m²

ANSWER: Pressure = 3430 N/m² = 3430 Pa
