In my opinion pony boy is different from the others that kind of makes him an outsider. 2: because know one is like pony boy, he gets tested differently bc he doesn't like the things they do. Pony boys friend help his development when johnny said stay gold pony boy stay gold" To me what I means to be an outsider is to do better things and treat people nicely and be a better person unlike everyone else.
