The southern tip of India and the island of the southeast coast of India, formerly known as Ceylon and today known as Sri Lanka, it's also part of the Indian subcontinent. It was the region shown in light blue in the second map of source. The geographic feature that limited northward expansion was the Himalaya Mountains.
