The Mothers of the Plaza de Mayo was a movement of mothers whose children had mysteriously disappeared in Argentina during the oppressive government that silenced all opposition. They were a successful democratic movement because they helped create many new regulations about human rights that weren't respected or didn't exist before the movement. They helped raise awareness about the problem of having a corrupt government.
