Prior the 1900s, one political party held power until the 1990s. The early 1900s was described as the Porfirato period which saw a modernization of economy and flow of foreign investment to the country. The Mexican Revolution occurred between 1910 and 1920. The post-revolutionary period marked a single party control over state politics.
