As one climbs one would see mostly pine with a forest floor with little other vegetation because sunlight is blocked out. Further up the pine trees are fewer, aspen may appear in groves along stream beds. Eventually one travels above what is called the timberline here grasses and flowers that do well in nutrient poor soil. Some bushes and other stunted growth trees may also be found above the timberline
