The answer to the question above would be that the climax is the point of greatest stress in a story.  It is the part within a story in which the tension is at its highest point. It is also referred to as "crisis".

Representing a turning point within the storyline, in the climax the rising actions turns into falling action. Therefore, as you can see, in the climax the conflict is at its peak and then reaches a sort of resolution, which is also known as "denouement".
