The French and Indian War drained the British government's money coffers, and since the British people back in the mainland already had heavy taxes, the government decided to tax the "less-taxed" colonists.

However, since the US colonists were already use to not having the British government care for them, they resist the change, and the way the British government treated the colonists later resulted in the Revolutionary war and the birth of a nation
